We were delighted to see Cutting Edge Theatre recognised at the Community Champion Awards last Thursday at Dunfermline’s Glen Pavilion.

The group, which meet here at the Vine Conference Centre every Wednesday, are passionate about enabling equal access to the arts for people with additional needs – whether as audience members, participants, or professionals. They have built a wonderful programme of inclusive theatre experiences and training opportunities, helping people engage with the arts in ways they may not have thought possible.

Tim Thomson, manager of the Vine Conference Centre, said:
“It’s an absolute joy to welcome the Cutting Edge team here every week. They are so full of life, fun, and creativity they really bring the place to life on a Wednesday!”
A representative from Cutting Edge Theatre commented at the awards:
“We don’t do it for the recognition, but because we love it. To be part of something today where everyone is acknowledging the things they do is beautiful. During classes we build friendships and teach communication skills that help with day-to-day living.”

Their sessions also include creative writing workshops, where members are currently developing their own monologues. Many participants have been with the group for years, with classes continuing as long as funding allows.
It’s fantastic to see their work in the spotlight – a well-deserved award for a brilliant group.
